Light Landing Carriage for the Colt Automatic Machine Gun |
|
This reproduction light landing carriage was reproduced completely from original drawings and photographs. I searched for 11 months and was unable to locate an original light landing carriage to reproduce. I was able to find several photographs, an original copy of Marlin Arms Corporation's Manual for the Colt Automatic Gun 1898 reprinted from 1916 edition and a copy of Handbook of the Colt Automatic Machine Gun, Washington Government Printing Office 1917, revised from August 17, 1901. This project although appearing quite simple posed a great deal of difficulty. The two ammunition chests evident in the illustration below were not commissioned to be built at this time. |

| This drawing included in the Handbook of the Colt Automatic Machine Gun is the primary source of information with which I manufactured this reproduction. I was able to produce dimensioned drawings based on this illustration and the overall dimensions given in the manual. | |
